KDE Plasma System Tray Support

Hi All, just got a life time license and I’m trying to get this working on my linux system. Right now I have rclone installed via a Distrobox and running the AppImage of RCloneView. I’m running an immutable desktop which is why I’ve got rclone in a distrobox, to avoid using rpm-ostree for smooth OS updates down the road.

The issue I have is that it seems to expect GNOME and I can’t figure out a work around for my KDE Plasma system. I’m running Bazzite which is essentially Fedora Kinoite an Atomic spin of standard Fedora. It supports system tray icons by default and all my other apps work fine (i.e. MEGASync, Steam, etc.).

Other than having to keep the RCloneView open it works great via the AppImage, installed via RPM file on the distrobox, not so much. The AppImage seems to be the only one that’ll successfully mount the remote cloud drives.

Any ideas?

Thanks for the detailed report — and welcome aboard with the lifetime license!

We’ll set up a test environment on KDE Plasma (matching yours as closely as possible) to reproduce and investigate the behavior you’re seeing, especially around system tray integration and remote mounting under Wayland.

AppImage seems to be working well for you, which is good to hear. We’ll also take a closer look at the differences between the AppImage and RPM-installed versions within a Distrobox context.

We’ll post an update here once we’ve had a chance to test and gather more information. Thanks again for your patience and the helpful system details!

The issue with tray icon has been resolved, and the fix will be included in version 0.8, scheduled for release next week.

Came here looking for the same system tray support.. I had a nightmare trying to get rclone running with gdrive but rcloneview finally (though very tricky to find the app) got me up and running easily. THANK YOU

I’m on fedora 42, running the .rpm version and i’m now looking forward to having a simple system tray and dolphin integrated Gdrive next week!!

Ps. would be nice to have this in the official or flatpak repos
