AppImage v1.6.8 will not open on openSUSE Slowroll

Thanks for reporting this, and sorry for the trouble. We reproduced it on openSUSE Tumbleweed, which Slowroll follows, and it’s a problem in how our AppImage is packaged, not anything on your side.

What’s going on: the AppImage carries its own copy of a Wayland library, and that copy is older than what openSUSE’s current graphics drivers (Mesa 26) need. When RcloneView starts, the graphics driver can’t load next to that old library, so the app can’t set up its window and quits right away. It happens in both Wayland and X11 sessions. Our AppImage packaging hasn’t changed since 1.5. What changed is the Mesa update on Slowroll, and the older 1.5 AppImages are built the same way, so they’d most likely run into it as well.

Workaround until the fixed build is out: unpack the AppImage, remove the bundled Wayland library, and start the unpacked app. In a terminal, in the folder where the AppImage is:

./RcloneView-1.6.8-x86_64.AppImage --appimage-extract
find squashfs-root -name 'libwayland-*' -delete
./squashfs-root/AppRun

This creates a squashfs-root folder. You can move it somewhere permanent (for example ~/Applications/RcloneView) and start RcloneView with AppRun inside it. Unpacking doesn’t need FUSE, so this also gets around the next point.

If double-clicking the AppImage does nothing at all: AppImages also need FUSE 2 to run directly. If running it from a terminal prints “AppImages require FUSE to run”, install it with sudo zypper install libfuse2.

We’re changing the AppImage so it uses your system’s copy of this library, and we’ll post here when a fixed build is available. If the workaround doesn’t work for you, please run the steps above in a terminal and paste the output here.
