The RcloneView application crashed immediately upon launch because the system linker (dyld) failed to locate or properly load the PDFium.framework library. Although the application found the library file inside its bundle (/Applications/RcloneView.app/Contents/Frameworks/PDFium.framework/PDFium), it refused to load it due to a specific security restriction: a case-sensitivity mismatch. The application strictly requires the capitalized name ‘PDFium’, but it is defined inside the bundle in lowercase as ‘pdfium’: ‘…with install name ‘@rpathrpathrpathrpath/pdfium.framework/pdfium’ and security level requires its leaf name to match requested ‘PDFium’’.
If you want to get the application up and running, the quickest solution is to fix the names directly inside the application bundle using Terminal; Google AI will provide you with the exact step-by-step instructions the fastest.
Hi hwpdm, and thank you jakhad: your diagnosis was exactly right.
This is fixed in RcloneView 1.6.8: https://downloads.bdrive.com/rclone_view/builds/RcloneView-1.6.8.dmg
Because the app couldn’t start, its built-in updater couldn’t offer you this update, so please download it from the link above. Open the DMG, drag RcloneView to Applications, and choose Replace.
What went wrong: RcloneView contains two copies of the library it uses for PDF previews, and their names differ only in upper and lower case. On a standard Mac disk the two ended up in the same place inside the app, and the wrong one was left there. macOS 26 and earlier loaded it anyway, but macOS 27 (with System Integrity Protection on, which is the default) refuses a library whose name doesn’t match exactly, so the app quit right after opening. 1.6.8 puts the right library back, and our build now checks for this so it can’t slip through again.
We tested the fix on macOS 27.0 and on macOS 26.5. The app starts, existing jobs and settings carry over, and PDF previews work. On first launch, macOS may ask whether RcloneView can find devices on your local network and access your Documents folder (where it writes its log file). It’s fine to allow both.
About older versions: every recent 1.5 and 1.6 build has the same problem, so an older version wouldn’t start on macOS 27 either. That’s why 1.6.8 is the way forward here.
Two more notes:
Please let us know whether 1.6.8 starts for you.
