Notice: if you want RcloneView to run in background with tray icon support

Hello.

Every time I close the RcloneView GUI I get a pop-up window stating:

NOTICE

If you want RcloneView to run in background with tray icon support please install ‘AppIndicator and kStatusnotifierItem Support’ GNOME extension.

I went to the Software Manager and installed Gnome-shell-extension-appindicator (which is the aforementioned ‘AppIndicator and kStatusnotifierItem Support’ extension) version 58-1ubuntu24.04.1. It did not help, I am still getting this notice.

What can I do to fix this?

OS: Linux Mint 22.3 Cinnamon 6.6.6 x86 64-bit

RcloneView version 1.3.551 (I put in the license key, but it still says PLUS Trail mode, 13 days left to evaluate and explore all PLUS features)

Thank you

Jeff.

Hello Jeff,

Thank you for the detailed report — this was very helpful!

You’re right that the AppIndicator extension is for GNOME, not Cinnamon. We identified this as a bug and have just released a fix. Please update to version 1.3.553 which adds proper tray icon support for Linux Mint Cinnamon:

:backhand_index_pointing_right: rclone_view-1.3.553+1-linux-x86_64.deb

You can install it with:

bash

sudo dpkg -i rclone_view-1.3.553+1-linux-x86_64.deb

After installing, the tray icon should work properly on Cinnamon 6.6.6 without needing any GNOME extension.

Thank you again for taking the time to report this — your feedback directly helped us improve RcloneView!

Hello Team,

I installed it and it is working. I do have a question. Shouldn’t the owl be yellow? It is on Windows. I do not know if yellow vs. gray means anything, but I mounted a mount and it was still gray.

With that said, it still is functional, just not a pretty!

Thank you,

Jeff Y.
