Version update not working?

I’m having an issue with Sync not working properly (reported today as a possible bug) but I’ve just seen that there’s a more up to date version - I’m running v1.3.553.

But if I click the ‘check for updates’ button nothing happens - no idea why.

How do I get to the new version to download and try it (hoping it fixes my Sync problem!)

Thanks

Hi @Pegasusphil,

Thanks for reporting this! Could you let us know which operating system you’re running RcloneView on (e.g., Windows, macOS, or Linux)? That’ll help us point you to the right download and look into the update issue.

Hi - I’m on Linux Mint v22.3 (Cinnamon). But I just found the download link on the webpage so that’s ok. Not sure why the ‘check for updates’ was dead though. Nor why I got no notification when the update came out - should I have seen something in the app, or by email?

Please also check my major problem just reported as a possible bug - Sync isn’t working right at all. maybe the new version will help - who knows!

Hi @Pegasusphil,

Sorry for the confusion! On the Linux version, the ‘Check for Updates’ feature isn’t fully working yet — that’s why nothing happened when you clicked it. We’re working on improving that.

For the Sync issue, could you please try it with the new version you’ve just downloaded and see if it resolves the problem? If you’re still experiencing issues after updating, please let us know and we’ll look into it further.

Thanks for your patience!

Yes I’ll try Sync shortly and report back.
But another question - In the main window I can create a Remote which shows my Linux ‘Home’ folder and its contents, but I can’t seem to create one which goes a level higher and shows my Root’ folder - which is where I can access the ‘mnt’ folder and my various disk drives. I originally had two Remotes one for ‘Home’ and one for ‘Root’ but now both only show ‘Home’ contents and I can’t find a way to get back to ‘Root’. Any clues?

Ok I just tested the Sync function under the new version - I added a sub-folder of files plus a single file to the source. Then removed them again from the source.
Sadly it’s the same but it’s worse:

After adding the sub-folder and file -
Sync of only the specific sub-folder works correctly and reports correctly - files added
Sync of the parent structure (including the specific sub-folder) - NOW DOES NOT ADD FILES AND REPORTS ZERO CHANGES “SUCCESS” (This is new!).

After deleting the sub-folder and file -
Sync of only the specific sub-folder works correctly and deletes files - BUT reports ‘0 files processed’.
Sync of the parent structure (including the specific sub-folder) - as before, doesn’t delete anything at all and reports ‘0 files processed’ and “success”.

As it stands, I can’t rely on it to sync properly as far as deletions go.

And now my destination drive has unmounted in Rcloneview, and my 2 remotes won’t display any structure at all - are you working in the background? Something weird is going on…. I’ve closed the program, it’s not behaving at all…..

I should have mentioned - I was on Linux Mint 22.2 until yesterday, then updated to 22.3. But I think this issue with sync had already started before the Mint update (not sure of that)
